The ISO/IEC[1] Standard 27001:2005 for Information Security Management Systems (ISMS) certifies best practices in the management of data security. For businesses within the field of data security and IT asset recovery this standard is quickly becoming a pre-requisite as it helps identify data security risks and implement appropriate controls. For customers of companies who manage retired IT assets this provides reassurance their data is being securely dealt with.
Anand Narasimhan, Sims Recycling Solutions Director, explains: “Clients are placing an ever increasing level of importance on the security of their data and how it is disposed of. This means they expect providers of asset recovery services to have the very highest security standards in place when it comes to looking after their own data, as well as that of their customers.”
To uphold the quality of the standard each certified body is re-assessed annually. During audits, non-conformances are identified and corrected to achieve renewed certification. Sims Recycling Solutions recently passed their annual re-assessment audit without any non-conformances and was proud to share the news in a recent press release.
“Achieving the highest level of certification is a great demonstration of the efforts made to ensure that we meet top level standards within our industry,” stated Steve Skurnac, Sims Recycling Solutions President. “Great news for us and our customers, and further evidence of Sims’ commitment and dedication to ensure we continue to provide ‘best in class’ ITAD services in the UK and the rest of Europe.”
