Michael Espada of SRS will be speaking at the IAITAM ACE 2018 in Orlando on May 8.
When working in one of the most fast-paced and agile environments, IT asset managers must constantly seek resources to keep them up to speed. Security, compliance and efficiency are among the many IT asset management considerations made on a daily basis. The International Association of IT Asset Managers (IAITAM) has become an important resource for IT professionals all over the world. With regular events held in different regions, the association is able to provide attendees with relevant knowledge that can be implemented upon their return to the office to start new asset management programs, or improve existing ones.
The biggest upcoming conference is the IAITAM ACE 2018 – The building blocks to ITAM Maturity, held in Orlando on May 8. With the EU’s new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) coming into force May 25, this is anticipated to be a focus of discussion.
Michael Espada, international business development manager with Sims Recycling Solutions, will lead the session titled “IT Asset Disposition and GDPR: What You Need to Know”, on May 8 at 10 a.m. in Bonaire ¾. In this session, participants will acquire a better understanding of:
- Who is affected by these regulations,
- How they impact your ITAD decisions,
- What happens if you don’t comply, and
- How to ensure compliance during ITAD.
This topic is critical to those who manage their businesses IT and electronic equipment. Enforced in May 2018, the GDPR fines for noncompliance will be €10-€20 million ($14-$28 million) or range between 2-4 percent of worldwide annual revenue of the prior financial year, whichever is higher. It is important to understand the GDPR requirements and ensure compliance when managing data stored on retired IT assets.
