Environmental Sustainability at SLS
Our company’s purpose is to create a world without waste to preserve our planet. Sustainability is a key consideration in all our services and operations. We are committed to operating our Circular Centers with an extremely low carbon footprint. We have established measureable three-year goals to achieve carbon neutrality in our direct operations and 100% renewable energy at all SLS owned Circular Centers by the end of fiscal year 2025.
To achieve this, all areas of our operations are being reassessed. Energy efficiency projects and upgrades are being prioritized and alternative fuels are being explored. We are seeking to maximize emissions savings through reimagining logistics solutions, reducing waste, electrification of equipment and vehicle, use of hydrogen and/or biofuels, staff training and equipment upgrades.
We have moved more than a quarter of our global sites to renewable electricity agreements and are actively working to convert all our Circular Centers to renewable electricity sources. We are pursuing a mixed strategy for supply, including renewable electricity contracts and on-premises renewable options.
SLS Sustainability Goals
SLS has planned emissions reductions pathways with immediate focus areas. Energy efficiency, projects and items with longer lifespans, such as plant electrification and vehicle decarbonization will be pursued first to maximize long-term and emissions savings.
In order to achieve our carbon reduction goals we are re-examining every aspect of what we do and how we do it. You can find out more about our roadmap to carbon neutrality and key initiatives for decarbonization in our Carbon Reduction Goals Overview.

Green Reverse Logistics Award
In February, 2022, Sims Lifecycle Services (SLS) received the Green Reverse Logistics Award from the Reverse Logistics Association (RLA). SLS received this award for the development of our Sustainability Calculator.
The SLS Sustainability Calculator provides clients with transparent sustainability reporting suitable to contribute to corporate carbon accounting. Our robust and up-to-date data sets and transparent calculations provide proof points to withstand internal and external audits.
Developed and released in 2021, SLS’ tool calculates the carbon reduction from reuse, redeployment, and recycling of IT assets. The calculator uses data from units, both whole and components, processed at SLS Circular Centers on behalf of our clients.
As a member of the Circular Electronics Partnership (CEP), SLS fully embraces the CEP vision and roadmap to a circular economy for the electronics industry and associated supply chain by 2030.
