The German Datacenter Association hosted the 2022 German Datacenter Conference this past September in Frankfurt. The annual conference was attended by operators, owners and partners of data centers of all sizes, and over two days attendees discussed strategies and digital infrastructure.
On the second day of the conference, Jelle Slenters, Commercial Director, had the opportunity to speak on “Increasing value in data center hardware ownership”. During his presentation, Jelle looked at trends impacting the German data center industry and offered his perspective on simplification of supply chain becoming a competitive advantage. He highlighted the new era in data center management and the rapid 20-year evolution of the industry.
Also in attendance were Willem Frederik-Huiskes, Business Development Manager, and Bart-Jan Smit, Global Account Manager. During the event, both networked with attendees. “There were many interesting representatives from enterprises and big players like Equinix and Caterpillar,” said Willem Huiskes. “Panels and presentations were a highlight to my experience.”
Many panels at the conference highlighted carbon neutrality in the data center space and strategies for sustainability. This is an increasingly important discussion by all professionals in the German data center industry. Another large focus of the conference was the need for young people to enter the data center and digital infrastructure market. It was great to witness the first GDA Young Talent Award Ceremony hosted by the German Datacenter Association where they awarded the Young Professionals Award for outstanding dissertation.
German Datacenter Association’s first conference was a great opportunity to connect with other data center leaders. We look forward to the future, and many more events such as this.
