Sims Lifecycle Services Listed as a Representative Vendor in the 2024 Gartner® “Market Guide for IT Asset Disposition”
Sims Lifecycle Services (SLS) has once again been recognized as a Representative Vendor in the 2024 Gartner® “Market Guide for IT Asset Disposition.”1 We feel this acknowledgment, our fifth inclusion in the Market Guide2, highlights SLS’s commitment to delivering world-class IT asset management and disposition solutions that meet the highest standards of data security, sustainability, compliance and value return. In our opinion, this recognition of SLS as a Representative Vendor underscores our strong position in the market and our ability to support global clients in managing the end-of-life cycle of IT assets.
According to Gartner, “Sustainability requirements are compounding the ongoing ITAD challenges of data security and sound reuse/recycling. Sourcing, procurement and vendor management leaders can use this Market Guide to navigate the ITAD market, assess growing compliance risks and identify representative ITAD providers.”
Sustainability is a key feature throughout the report, which highlights the benefits of asset reuse over recycling. Reuse of whole units is by far the most sustainable practice for electronic devices. While parts recovery and recycling play an important role in managing waste and recovering valuable materials, reuse offers distinct environmental and economic benefits by reducing energy consumption, waste generation, resource depletion, pollution and emissions. In fact, according to the report, reuse has been proven to avoid as much as 20 times more carbon emissions than the best recycling processes.
Many organizations are now rethinking the traditional stigma associated with using refurbished devices and are prioritizing asset reuse over recycling, a practice that SLS has championed as part of its commitment to a circular economy. “ITAD is increasingly focused on the environmental sustainability benefits of extending the lifecycle of technology assets to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and e-waste.”
As a single-source global supplier, SLS provides the full breadth of ITAD services and offers a world class solution to realize, according to Gartner, “ITAD’s primary objective is to minimize the dual material business risks to your brand: data sanitization (wiping or physical destruction of all data-bearing assets) and environmentally sound reuse or recycling of the asset.”
SLS is a specialist in the refurbishing and remarketing of used IT equipment and consistently ranks among the world’s largest and most sustainable ITAD vendors. We offer a wide range of services that enable organizations to securely and responsibly manage decommissioned IT assets, including each of the mandatory services noted in the Gartner Report.
We boast an extensive history of prioritizing the reuse and redeployment of IT assets. In FY2024 we repurposed 6.1 million electronic units, a 60% increase over the previous year. This is a significant step towards achieving our goal of repurposing 8.5 million units by FY25.
