SLS fully supports data center technology upgrades, relocations and data center shutdowns. When retiring obsolete IT assets, data centers almost always have a mix of assets, varying by type, age and condition. Some of these assets have resell potential, while older and broken equipment will be recycled. Verified data destruction is always a top concern when managing retired data bearing servers, blades, SANs and hard drives.
How we do it
Our systematic approach to managing end-of-life data center electronics offers full accountability, while ensuring business continuity, data security and environmentally responsible reuse or recycling of retired equipment. SLS provides the following data center services:
- Decommission racks, servers, SANs
- Remove hard drives
- Remove cables and power cords when required
- Physical inventory of all decommissioned IT assets, compared to client provided list
- Document parent/child relationship between asset and hard drive
- On-site data destruction via erasure, shredding, degaussing and crushing
- Certificate of Data Destruction while on-site
- Pack and ship assets to SLS facility for resale or recycling
All SLS facilities provide:
- Corporate data center decommissioning
- Cage cleanout at co-located data centers
- Routine rack removal and hard drive destruction for mega data centers
- Data destruction services including SAN removal, hard drive destruction and erasure. We also destroy data on backup tapes and flash media. Certificates of Data Destruction provided for all services. Data destruction services adhere to NIST 800-88 r1 guidelines.
